Day

The tour guide will meet you at your hotel accommodation or Riad. You start your tour from Marrakesh for Skoura. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains via The Tichka pass, many stops along this beautiful road to enjoy panoramic views crossing the high Atlas Mountains, before arriving to Ouarzazate for Lunch time and visit Kasbah of Taourirt, then you continue the trip for 1 hour, stop for tonight's dinner and accommodation in a charming Kasbah lodge in the area of Skoura valley. You will have time to enjoy a walk through the palmary of Skoura, with its villages and the wonderful 17th century Amridil Kasbah.

Today the tour takes us along the road of the thousands kasbahs. Drive through the valley of the roses to the village Kela’a Mgouna. This town is famous for its sea of pink Persian rose landscape and each year they celebrate their harvest with a joyous and fragrant Rose Festival, known locally as the Fête des Roses. The next city is Boumalen Dades located at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains; you will take a secondary road to dades valley, another beautiful valley with its typical villages. You visit Dades Gorge; a beautiful panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains from the South. Your trip take way to Tinghir, stop for lunch, the city is famous for its beautiful palm groves and Traditional Kasbah, with a big artisanal heritage from Jews people. After a short visit in the traditional market of Tinghir, you continue 15 km to reach Todra Gorge. You will start your walk that will take you from the valley and typic old villages to the spectacular canyon, with a deep fault of about 300 m which splits the red limestone into a deep ravine. You will have dinner and overnight stay in Typical Guest House at Toudra Gorge.

Today back to Tinghir to join the desert road for Merzouga, you travel for Tinjedad, crossing the Saghro Massif, beautiful volcanic mountains, and with his old underground irrigation system, palm plantations reaching Erfoud and Rissani. You stop in Rissani for lunch time, before driving along a striking route that marks the transition to desert, we will arrive to the amazing Kasbah hotel, at edge of the golden sand dunes, relax beside the swimming pool. Here all unnecessary luggages can be left in safe room at the hotel. Then you ride for one hour and a half camel trek will take you to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. The camp consists of comfortable Berber tents equipped with mattresses, linen, toilets, a restaurant, and a kitchen. The evening will consist shooting stars show, then dinner followed by a traditional music show and overnight in a sahara camp in tents.

Rise early this morning to witness the amazing sunrise over the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. After you return by camels to the Kasbah hotel for breakfast, and shower, you meet the driver, and you travel to Ouarzazate via Alnif, Tazarine and the Draa valley junction where we head north to Ouarzazate after crossing the small volcanic Atlas Mountains. You arrive to your Riad in Ouarzazate.

On route to Marrakech is Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most exotic and best preserved Kasbahs in the entire Atlas Region. The Kasbah is now under UNESCO protection and has magnificent views of the surrounding palm eraie and beyond.

Useful things to know before you go

Before you go
Visas & permits
Visas are not required for British, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, US and other EU nationals for a stay of up to 3 months. Please ensure your passport is valid for six months after your return date and that you get your passport stamped upon entry into Morocco.
All other nationalities should contact the Moroccan embassy for details. Visas are your responsibilities so please don’t forget to check!

Vaccinations
It is recommended that you be vaccinated for Tetanus and Polio, if you haven’t had a booster in the last ten years. Food and waterborne diseases are more common, so we recommend vaccinations for typhoid (valid 3 years) and Hepatitis A (validity varies). Morocco is not a high risk malaria area but if in any doubt please consult a physician or travel clinic for further information.

MAD = Moroccan Dirham, rates are subject to fluctuation. Exchange facilities are available at various bureau de changes in major towns and most banks have ATMs. How much spending money is needed, depends largely on the individual. We currently recommend an average of USD $20 - $30 per day. We can’t specify every sundry cost however and you’ll need to allow for expenses such as drinks, snacks and the odd souvenir. Travellers Cheques can be difficult to change en route so we recommend you have cash for convenience and bring a card to use in the ATM’s—most accept Visa, MasterCard, Electron, Cirrus and Maestro. There are ATM’s at Marrakech airport, which you can use upon arrival.

Climate
Temperatures in Morocco are generally high, particularly during the summer months from May to September; October is still warm and bright so take sunscreen. However in the High Atlas and the Sahara it can get very cold and some peaks can remain snow capped from November to June.
