On this 5-day tour, escape to Morocco’s desert region,  Journey through the Atlas Mountains, and over the highest mountain pass in Africa, in route towards the Sahara Desert. However travel to the famous UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, an ancient city that has been featured in many movies. Pass through many Berber villages, and Kasbahs reaching the desert at Merzouga, Meanwhile spending the night in a Berber camp, set amongst the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Most importantly rise early the following morning to witness beautiful sunrise, from the top of nearby sand dunes.

This 5 days expedition tour, takes you exploring Authentic Morocco. Visit the sahara desert, and experience the real-life, of Morocco’s nomadic population. The South of Morocco has played great roles throughout history. Nowadays, you can still marvel at the glory of the architecture, and the unique charms of the historic heritage, while savoring the exotic culture.

Following a pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, further cross the High Atlas Mountains, via the dramatic Tizi N’ Tichka Pass, driving along a road that climbs up to 7,412 feet (2,260 meters) above sea level. Moreover pass through small villages and waterfalls, marveling at the continuously changing landscape and colors of the mountain scenery. Stop for a cup of refreshing mint tea, before taking the road to Ait Benhaddou in the Ounila Valley. Discover the most famous Kasbah in Morocco strolling the winding streets and enjoying awe-inspiring views of the Atlas Mountains. Back on the road, pass through Ouarzazate in the famous Valley of Roses and Dades Valley, reaching the Dades Gorge in time to watch the sunset. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in romantic hotel accommodation.

 

After breakfast, take an optional walk through the Dades Gorge. Then, drive the Road of A Thousand Kasbahs, passing the village of Tinghir. Arrive at the Todra Gorge in time for lunch. Back on the desert road, journey to Merzouga, via Erfoud and Rissani. Continuing along a striking route that marks the transition to desert, we will travel to your amazing Kasbah hotel at edge of the golden sand dunes, relax beside the swimming pool, at night you will meet a desert blues band live show.

 

After breakfast, around 9 am, we go in 4WD off-road tour around the dunes via the oasis of Merzouga, the nomadic depository, Khamlia village to visit the Gnawa’s village, originally slaves brought from darker-skin africa, to listen to their spiritual music, then continue to meet desert nomads in their tents, and discover a new sense of life. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. After a lunch pizza in Rissani you will travel back to your amazing Kasbah hotel at edge of the golden sand dunes, relax beside the swimming pool. Here all unnecessary luggages can be left in safe rooms at the hotel. The one hour and a half camel trek will take us to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, some rising of 820 feet), the highest in North Africa. The camp consists of three comfortable Berber tents equipped with mattresses, linen, toilets, a restaurant, and a kitchen. The evening will consist shooting stars show, then dinner followed by a traditional music show and overnight in a nomad camp in tents.

 

Your camel guide will wake you up to watch the spectacle of the sunrise, a cup of tea, then ride back your camels to the hotel. where you will have time for a shower and a well-earned breakfast. Leaving to Ouarzazate on a different road via Rissani. We pass through Alnif, N’kob, the capital village of the Berber Ait Atta tribe, where we will stop for lunch in a traditional Kasbah with an amazing panoramic view. As far we will cross the Draa Valley one of the biggest valleys in Morocco, big with it’s huge member of palm trees. We arrive to Agdz, the old caravan route linking Marrakech to Timbuktu. We head to Ouarzazate therough Tizi-n-Infinite pass to Ouarzazate, where you can visit the film-making studios, there we can travel along the huge history of film-making industry in Hollywood of Africa.

After breakfast, explore the town of Ouarzazate, the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Studios, the largest and most famous film studio in Africa. Back on the road, head to the Fint Oasis, before driving back over the winding Tizi-n-Tichka pass to Marrakech.
